We give something to someone and, they receive it.
When we give, often behind the giving is, "I am going to get something back at some time in the future from that person."
When we receive something, we often feel obligated to give back to that person.
Shall we look at another possibility?
D gives you a pencil, and you feel grateful, thanks and appreciation a feeling there is no obligation to give back to D, D loves to give, it makes him feel good that he has contributed to someone.
OR
D gives without conditions and without feeling good or that he has contributed in any way, that is it, nothing more, finished.
The receiver has no obligation, no expectation, free to receive, that is it, nothing more, finished.
People also talk about giving and taking in terms of energy! They make it up from an idea that someone should or should not do, or act in a certain way.
It is also spoken, with the idea, that someone can take your energy. A person may want the action of giving and receiving, for the interaction to be balanced and even equitable, therefore conditional.
For me, there is a sense of a sad interaction between beings.
It feels like a continuous push and pull.
Someone once asked who they should donate to, myself or another.
I responded, “It does not make any difference, giving is giving, it is not individualised, all receive, it does not go out and come back from one to another but out and back from all to all."
People state we are one collective energy, but we continuously single out and separate when it is convenient to us at the time, please don't create this with your fellow human being.

The tree told me once,
"the birds make their nests in me, some sing, some argue and fight, various animals climb me, and bugs eat me.
The wind blows all my leaves and branches and some fall, the sun shines on me and the earth and the water support me.
I don’t ask for anything and I don’t give anything, everything just happens.

Who decided that giving and receiving exist, who taught you these actions?
A new way
Giving and receiving are all labels and ideas, can we delete these, giving and receiving do not exist! Only in your mind, can we not listen to the mind in this, and then what? No stories.
Imagine someone is giving to you and you are so full and desire for nothing, then nothing can be given to you and nothing is received.
Imagine someone taking something from you are so full that there isn't anyone taking, it does not happen to you, not only because there is no you, but there can't be a giving or a taking from anyone or anything.
The fullness of being doesn't know these forms of interactions this is the same as living and dying but that is another subject.
